Asana

If your firm runs Asana, connecting it mirrors its projects and tasks into Bitment and keeps changes flowing in both directions, so you can work from either tool.

Key concepts

An Asana API app. The recommended way to connect is a small OAuth app you register in Asana's own developer console, not a personal password.
Personal or firm-wide. As with Fireflies, you choose whether the connection belongs to you or to one or more of your firms; a firm-associated connection is shared by the whole team.
Per-teammate attribution. Once connected, each teammate can authenticate their own Asana identity so tasks and comments they push from Bitment show up in Asana as them.

Connect Asana

In Asana's developer console (app.asana.com/0/my-apps), create a new API app.
Add the redirect URL the connect card shows, and enable Full permissions.
On Settings › Connections › Asana, paste the app's client ID and client secret, and choose Personal or one or more of your firms.
Authorize in the window Asana opens.

A legacy alternative, pasting a personal access token created in the console's separate token section, still works for a personal, single-user connection.

Firm-shared connections and per-teammate attribution

Associated to a firm, one connection is the whole team's: everyone works against one synced Asana workspace, sharing the same mirror and API quota. Each teammate can click Authenticate your Asana account on the connection page so that tasks and comments they push appear in Asana as them; until they do, their changes are attributed to whoever connected it.

What shows up in Projects

Open Projects and a second tab appears at the top: Bitment | Asana. It mirrors the connected workspace's projects and tasks, and you can create, update, move, complete, and comment on Asana tasks directly from Bitment. Bitment-native features like custom fields, dependencies, and sharing aren't available on the Asana side of the tab.

Migrate off Asana

Open any project in the Asana tab and its header carries Migrate to Bitment, which creates a brand-new native Bitment project with a full copy of everything under it: sections, tasks, subtasks, comments, and assignees matched by verified email. The Asana project is left untouched, and the copy doesn't stay in sync afterward. This is a one-time migration for a team moving off Asana entirely; disconnect Asana once you've migrated everything you need.

Disconnect

Use the disconnect action on this page. This stops the sync in both directions; anything already mirrored or migrated into native Bitment projects stays put.
