Keyboard shortcuts
Bitment's desktop workspace is built to be driven from the keyboard: opening apps, arranging windows, and moving through Emails and Chat all have shortcuts. This page is the complete reference, grouped the same way the in-app cheat sheet groups them, plus the shortcuts specific to a handful of apps.
Shortcuts here are written with the macOS modifier glyphs: ⌘ Cmd, ⌥ Option, ⇧ Shift. On Windows or Linux, ⌥ becomes Alt and ⌘ becomes Ctrl; ⇧ is written Shift. Where a shortcut combines several modifiers, Windows and Linux join them with a plus sign (Shift+Alt+N) instead of showing them side by side.
Where to find it
Click the keyboard-shortcuts button (the ? icon) in the top menu bar's action cluster, or press ⇧⌥? (⇧⌘? in the desktop app) from anywhere. The Emails app has its own cheat sheet: press ? while it's open.
Key concepts
- App shortcut modifier: Bitment's global and window shortcuts use ⌥ Option as the primary modifier, because in an ordinary browser tab ⌘ Cmd (macOS) and Ctrl (Windows) are reserved by the browser and the operating system itself. In the desktop app there's no browser chrome to conflict with, so most of these same shortcuts also work with ⌘ Cmd (or Ctrl on Windows) in place of Option. A handful stay Option-only even on desktop, because macOS itself reserves that combination (Cmd+Space is Spotlight, Cmd+Q quits, Cmd+A selects all, Cmd+Tab switches apps), those are marked below.
- Windows/Linux equivalents: every shortcut on this page works the same way on Windows and Linux, substituting Alt for ⌥ and Ctrl for ⌘. Bitment detects your platform and shows the right glyph automatically in its own dialogs.

The voice-to-text row only appears (and only fires) when dictation is turned on at Settings › Voice-to-Text; see below.

Double-clicking a window's title bar (or dragging it to the top edge of the screen) maximizes it the same way ⌥↑ does; dragging a maximized or tiled window's title bar back down restores it under your cursor. Holding ⌥Q quits the focused app entirely, closing every window it has open, the same chord also appears while the ⌥Tab switcher is open, where it quits whichever app the switcher is currently highlighting rather than the one you started in. True full screen (the green traffic-light control) is left only by clicking that control again or pressing ⌥↓; dragging its title bar does not exit it.
Browser (desktop app only)
The embedded Browser is available only in the Bitment desktop app. Its shortcuts fire even while you're clicked into the page itself, and ⌘ (or Ctrl on Windows) also works in place of ⌥ for all of them.

To close just one Browser window rather than all of them, use its own red window-control button (or ⌥W on its last tab) instead of holding ⌥Q.

Closing the last tab in a Terminal window closes the window.
Voice-to-text

This shortcut, and the small microphone that appears above your cursor in a text field, only exist when Enable voice-to-text is turned on at Settings › Voice-to-Text. Turn dictation off there and both disappear.

The triage shortcuts (r, ⇧R, f, e, h, v, ⇧1, ⇧2) act on the whole conversation you're viewing, not just the message on screen.

Files, spreadsheet preview
When an Excel workbook or CSV opens in a preview, its sheet tabs run along the bottom the way Excel shows them.

Paste anywhere
Beyond the app-specific rows above, ⌘V (Ctrl+V on Windows) attaches a copied screenshot or image wherever you can attach a file: AI Chat, the Assistant pane, agent chat, Messages (including its Slack, Signal, and Telegram tabs), the email composer, a Projects task, and the desktop's file icons. The one place a paste lands inside the text instead of becoming an attachment is the email signature editor, since a signature has no attachment tray of its own.
Tips
- If a shortcut doesn't seem to fire, check whether you're in a plain browser tab rather than the desktop app, the Cmd/Ctrl variants of most global and window shortcuts only work in the desktop app, since a browser reserves those combinations for itself.
- Voice-to-text's shortcut only appears once the feature is turned on; if ⇧⌥V does nothing, check Settings › Voice-to-Text.
- The Browser and Terminal shortcuts above are scoped to whichever of those windows is focused; they don't fire while a different app has focus.
